A ceiling of elastic bands extended over the reverse-rake stage.
As Abigail’s lie expands to destroy her community, the ceiling
also expanded; tightly grouped furniture and walls slipped up and
off stage. Finally, all that remained was the bare rake, the
ceiling stretched down into John Proctor’s prison bars.
